Beijing Bus Tour A3 -
Precipitous
Simatai Great Wall
The
Great Wall Adventure Club offers Daily Bus Tours to major attractions
of Beijing. Our exceptional design of tour routes have been optimized
for busy international tourists. At very competitive rates and with
no compromise to quality, our bus tours of small group have taken
over 7,000 tourists to Great Wall,
Temple of Heaven,
Lama Temple,
Summer
Palace,
Ming
Tombs,
Forbidden City,
Hutong,
and newly added the 2008 Beijing Olympics sites such as the
Bird's Nest and the Water Cub.
Simatai, 120 km northeast of Beijing, is 5.4 km
long with 35 watchtowers. Hanging precariously onto the YanShan
Mountains, Simatai Great Wall is known for its steepness, ruggedness
and outstanding beauty. Simatai Great Wall connects with Jishanling
Great Wall to the west. In the valley, the Simatai Great Wall
is separated into two parts by the Simatai Reservoir, over which
a chain bridge runs through east to west. Like two huge golden dragons,
the two parts of the Great Wall wind down from the east and west
mountains into the reservoir, forming a wonderful reflection of
the magnificent Great Wall in the clear blue water.
The Simatai section of the Great Wall is the only part of the wall
that retains all the original features of the Ming Dynasty wall.
The bricks used to build the walls here were stamped with the date
on which they were made and the code numbers of the armies that
made them.
Ingeniously conceived and uniquely designed, this
section of Great Wall, inimitable and diversified, has incorporated
the different characteristics of other sections of the Great Wall.
Built on precipitous mountain ridges, there are many places that
are unmatched among other sections of Great Wall. The 'Heavenly
Ladder' and the 'Sky Bridge' are particularly dangerous - they can
make even the most intrepid tremble with fear.
