I highly recommend taking a tour with this company. They are very
organized, and make the whole process very easy.
I really enjoyed the 1AA day trip, the wild sections of the wall are
amazing, and a good challenge. If I had more time, I would have like to
try one of the multi-day trips. Our guide Connie was also great, she was
very knowledgeable whenever we had questions about the wall, very
friendly and her English was very good.
I was outside of to pickup and drop off area, and when we returned to
Beijing from the trip, I needed to get a cab back. Terrance and his
girlfriend both helped me get a cab back to my hotel, negotiated a price
for me and told the driver where I needed to go. This was totally above
and beyond what they needed to do, and I really appreciated it!

We just completed the Jiankou to
Mutianyu hike with Leo on Monday 15th
of November 2010 and I wanted to say how wonderful the trip was - your

As we have never rated anyone on Trip Advisor before, we were
unaware that you would get a copy of the feedback. As such, we wanted to
write personally and let you know that we were absolutely impressed with
the service we received while in Beijing and touring with your company.
After the initial mistake on day one, we were very pleased with the
sincere apology and effort to rectify the situation.
Cheney was just fantastic as a guide, both through the 7 days hiking
and on our day around the city. His grasp of the English language was
commendable and his teaching of the Chinese language to us was great and
a lot of fun. His historical knowledge was great and very interesting.
Of course the hike on the Great Wall was absolutely amazing and Cheney
made it fun; nothing was too much trouble and we were never rushed or
pushed for time. The food on the trip was fresh and beautiful, and the
local owners of the home stays should be commended on this, along with
their friendliness. We were always made to feel welcome and nothing was
a problem to them. All in all, this was one of our most favorite treks
ever, so thank you for all of your efforts leading up to our arrival and
throughout the trip; you can be proud of the people you have working for
you they are great service providers!
The day of the tombs was great! We had actually met Danny briefly
during the week at one of the accommodation places where he had other
clients also, so that was nice, as you get used to your guide after 7
days and build a bit of a rapport with them, so I was a bit sad to leave
Cheney. Danny was great, his english was pretty easy to understand and
his history knowledge was also extensive, he is clearly a bit of a
history buff! He was a great guide and very accommodating. We were not
hungry at the end of the tour, so he waited until we got back to the
city before stopping for lunch, we had a nice lunch, then he dropped us
where we wanted to go shopping and explained with a map how to find our
way back to the hotel from there; this was very helpful, as it was a
little daunting for us getting around the city (coming from a much less
crowded and busy place ourselves). Please tell Danny thanks for a great
day! All in all, the entire trip was fantastic, in no small part to your
help and organisation. The whole thing was enjoyable and a great
learning experience for the both of us. We have been given a few ideas
for a return trip by both guides, so may just come back with our two
girls and try a Tibet trip or something. If we do, we will definitely
be back in touch. Also, we have a great company here which we do a lot
of treks through. They are keen to know about our trip with you and are
always looking for companies to work with overseas who are reliable and
fit with their style of travel. Would you mind if we pass on your

We just loved having Aaron in charge of our tour! He had very good
English and he helped us with some of our Chinese. I know I will never
mispronounce Hangzhou again! Or Guangzhou! He did a really good job at
the Forbidden City explaining so much in detail.
But the best part of having Aaron is that he was so patient with us.
I was sure I could hike the Great Wall (I'm 73). He was able to tell
what my strength was like in 20 minutes of doing a prehike, and we both
agreed that because of the heat and the condition of the wall, we would
make other arrangements. He had to get the driver in on this--and he
did manage to do that.
So, we hiked up at Jinshanling for the
prehike (and down). We had a good and generous supper before we headed
up about 20 minutes by van to our overnight hike up to the General's
Tower. That was our second hike up. Aaron and my son, Mike, did a
little hiking before "bedtime." The porters set up the tents, and put
out the sleeping pads and the sleeping bags. Everything was clean and
perfect. We slept well and the porter was there with breakfast in the
morning.
Then Aaron and Mike, my granddaughter and I hiked a new section down
until Aaron and Mike split off for their long hike. My granddaughter
and I walked down and met a driver who took us back to the Jinshanling
cable cars. Wow! And it was Aaron who laid this hike out for us. We
went up in the cable cars and hiked on the restored section of the Wall
until we found our going down point. It was a great hike.
Our driver met us, and Aaron and Mike had just come down from their
hike. We even found time for lunch once we got back to Beijing.
Aaron was the greatest. But the best was his planning and his
patience. Thank you for a memorable adventure.

It was great to see a mix of the restored and more "wild" sections
of the wall and to get away from the major crowds (we had the wall to
ourselves for much of the day). It was also a relief not to be taken on

We had the most amazing experience on the Great Wall and Mr Cheney was
amazing with our children ages 7,9,and 12. The food he chose at our
meals was some of the best we had on our whole Asia trip through 4
countries.
The children had such a great time and he was extremely respectful, fun,
knowledgeable, and we will forever be thankful for the experience he
shared with us. I could not believe that we had the whole Great Wall to
ourselves , on the first day there was not one other person to be seen.

NEXT - I cannot say enough great things about Betty(Du Xiao Hong)- who
was our guide in Beijing. She has such extensive knowledge- she had the
children engaged all the time and I am so impressed with all the
information they actually retained from her teaching us. She is a warm,
caring guide that made our time in Beijing very special- and too short.
We look forward to growing the friendship that was started with Betty.
She is by far - the reason we will return to Beijing one day. Our Driver
Mr Chen- was so amazing in how he got us around Beijing in the traffic
and the long hours he had to put in to take us all the places we had to
go- we are so thankful to him- please pass on our thanks again.

schedule to get to all the sites we wished to see .

These tours were fantastic! I was traveling alone and always felt
safe and well informed with my tour guides. The tour bus always picked
me up on time at my hotel. The guides were always friendly and could
answer any question I had thought of about the city/culture. On my
second tour, many of the stops were not your typical tourist things and
it was phenomenal! We were able to see and experience much of Beijing
without so many crowds. All in all, if I go back to this bustling city
with my husband, we will definitely be booking with Great Wall

Barry was excellent - kind, polite, and informative. Our only
complaint is that, leaving the hotel so early in the morning, and being
a student group, the students weren't that interested in hearing SO much
information on the bus. Perhaps the 'history lesson' content could be
chopped down (made more concise) for an adolescent audience, especially
when the PA system is acting up.
Aside from this, Barry endeared himself very well to the group and
we were all happy to have him a part of our journey!

We loved the tour and had an amazing experience. It was great to
see the wall without running into other hikers or tourists. The only
thing that frustrated our group was that it took over 3 hours to get to
Jinshanling and we were told 2. I know that traffic will always be an
issue, but I think it bothered some people in our group. Luckily once
we got to the wall all thoughts of travel disappeared! I've already

We just got back from our China vacation. I was a bit skeptical at
first about the arrangements my wife had made for our last 4 days in
China, all done via internet, and paid for by cheque.
I was very pleasantly surprised to find that everything worked out as
planned. "Hank" met us at the Sofitel in Xi'an (we did the first part of
our China trip with Marathon Travel, an outfit that does packages for
the Great Wall marathon) exactly at the specified time, with an
excellent driver. He clambered up Huashan with us (most of the peaks),
then got us on our soft sleeper. He set us up with a great lunch at a
local restaurant. The overnight train to Pingyao worked well. "Jonathan"
was there at the train station ready for us. Jonathan did a great job
showing us Pingyao then on to the Hanging Temple, Qiao compound, and
Buddha caves. He put us on the day "hard sleeper" to Beijing. Jonathan
also got us set up with good lunches.
Hank and Jonathan were great. The drivers also were good.
I will not hesitate to recommend Great Wall Adventure to my colleagues
in the future. We really appreciated the individual attention we got. It
was a nice change from the big tour group we we a part of for the first
bit of our China adventure.

I had a good tour of the Beijing sights on Friday and of the Great
Wall on Saturday with Connie .
The wild wall was spectacular as advertised! It was sunny but cold
climbing up but we had a great day for weather and not many people until

my legs are still recovering from the long downhill walk :-) . I wonder

Mindy provided good information about the sites and lots more about life
in Beijing. Being a historian I really enjoyed the chance to uncover
what Beijing was like in older days. This also gave me a chance to visit
some of the sites that are harder to reach by walking or subway.

Hi - I very much enjoyed the hike, and I especially liked the tour
guides, Journey and Jerry. I would just suggest that in the future, make
sure people who are interested in this rustic section know that there
will be some difficult stretches to navigate, so one needs to be in good
shape and somewhat fearless. Look at the pic below - one has to do a
little rock climbing - well, rock descending - to get down this section.

on the wall in this area.

We have just finished our trek and Beijing City Tour and I wanted to

I'm very pleased with how everything worked out. Your tour guide,
Journey, was pleasant and professional, even if it was her first time.
Her English is quite good and she has a good sense of humor. The second
female guide with a beautiful Chinese name, was also good. Her English
was good. And she was also very knowledgeable about this part of the
wall. I'm very sorry that I didn't catch her name, but she is a good
tour guide.
The tour is very interesting though at times somewhat challenging, due
to the state of some parts of the wall. The tour can be done by young
people with an good physical condition. We had a nice little group of
likeminded people so that was great. The wall itself is beautiful and
thankfully not overrun by tourists. Our lunch was good. All in all this

23. Our guide was Lin Quansong (English name "Bill") and our driver was
Mr. Yao.
Lin Quansong was a FANTASTIC guide. He answered all our questions about
the Great Wall and its history. He was patient when I wanted to stop to
take photos (I have photos in an art gallery in the USA and love to take
pictures).
Lin Quansong has a cheerful, positive attitude and was fun to hike
with. I would HIGHLY recommend him as a guide; if I owned a travel
business (I am a teacher), I would want guides like Lin Quansong to
ensure my clients had the best experience possible with the tour. Thank
you so much for assigning Lin Quansong as our guide. In addition, Mr.

I was part of a group of 14 that did the Great Wall camping hike on
Nov 25th and 26th. I am writing to let the manager of the Beijing
operation know how pleased the entire group was with Cheney Wu, our tour
leader. He not only was a fun, excitable tour guide with a great sense
of humor but he went above and beyond in make sure that we were
appropriately accommodated for camping outside in the cold. He ordered
two sleeping bags for each person and this was completely necessary for
us to not freeze to death. We appreciate his foresight as we slept
comfortably (well, as comfortable as anyone could in such cold weather!)
and would not have been able to do so with just one sleeping bag. I
would highly recommend Cheney to anyone wanting to hike and camp on the
Great Wall. He was super patient, knowledgeable, and fun. Thank you for

Wanted to write and let you know how much we enjoyed the trip before
too much time has slipped by. Rarely do I deal with a contractor and
feel so satisfied as I did with your and your co-workers' service.
Would've liked to have met but I'm guessing you're very busy. I
picture you with the blue-tooth working all the time.
The service in Xi'an was especially exceptional. The train ride was an
interesting experience. When we went to the station for the trip from
Xi'an back to Beijing there was a dangerous situation with everyone
trying to enter the station at once. Welcome to China. We made it fine.
I envy that Ricky as he is 33 years old and it seems he is getting in a
lot of globetrotting.
We went to a restaurant, believe it was named DaDong, for Peking duck.
Dinner was around US $50. It was OK, a little short on duck. Few days
later we bought half a duck from a food stall on the street for about US
$2. It was delicious. It had been cooked over a charcoal fire.

magical. The sunset was amazing.

was overbooked. Andy treated us as though we were members of his family,
and stayed with us until everything possible had been done to find us a
bed for the night and to make sure we would be on the next plane.

go to Tibet.

was a great and professional service from start to finish. I was going
to be making my third trip to the Great Wall with a friend so I wanted
to see a section I hadn't seen before. I found Great Wall Adventure Club
just by doing a search on Google and was very happy with the experience.
I booked a 1 day hiking trek from Jinshanling to Simatai which was a
definitely not a cake-walk but beautiful. Our guide, Mao, was very cool
and knowledgeable about every section of the wall. Even when we asked
off-the-wall questions (no pun intended) he always had an answer. With a
trans-pacific staff they were able to answer my emails at all hours and
right away and they can book tours in all parts of China. They helped me
with a Xi'an tour as well which I didn't end up booking b/c we didn't
have time for it. Their prices are very reasonable and the best part
about GWAC is that I got the feeling from them that they really had my
best interest in mind instead of trying to "upsell" different tours to
make a higher profit.
After having this great experience with the Wall I wouldn't hesitate to
book one of their Tibet hiking treks or Yangtze/Three Gorges tours. "

"When my 13 year old son learned we may visit the Great
Wall on our trip to China, his request was to go when there wouldn't be
crowds of people. My trip to the section at Badaling 10 years ago was
crowded, and I was sure it wasn't the Great Wall experience he wanted.
An internet search led me to your website and a day hike from
Jinshanling to Simatai looked like the perfect solution. And it was!
When we arrived at the Wall around 9 AM, we were the only people there.
It was fantastic! The view of the Wall snaking in both directions, with
not another sole in site
was truly breathtaking. We hiked for 5 hours and probably saw another 20
tourists that day. Fernando, our guide, was the best. His English was
great, and we enjoyed his insight into the history of the Wall and daily
life in China. We took several bottles of water each, and a picnic
lunch. Sitting on the Wall, sharing a meal, with the mountains
surrounding you, you have time to actually pinch yourself to make sure
you're not dreaming. After our hiking challenge, we chose to end the
trip with a zip line down. Our day on the Wall was the highlight of our
two weeks in China. If you're looking for an outdoor adventure that can
captivate anyone of any age, I highly recommend this trip!"

my Great Wall hike of April 19. Upon arriving in Beijing I called Lisa
and we chatted for a few minutes then Cheney called about 5 min. later.
Cheney was my guide and was very competent. He kept the pace moving and
was sensitive to my not doing this every day as well as his being twice
my age. All went very well, if I could do that hike two or three times a
week it would be a terrific and healthy activity. With considerably
fewer visitors than Badaling I was most pleased. I visited Badaling in
1992 and it was very crowded. My fellow tour participants went to
Badaling and described great crowds. With the unrestored nature, great
vistas, fewer people and some good physical exercise, and history as
related by Cheney it made for the highlight of my trip to China. I am
indeed pleased that this was on the penultimate day of my China journey,
it made the whole trip move at an upwards curve with JinShanLing to
Simatai the top of the curve.
