Beijing Airport Taxi (Terminal 3)
Take escalator down to the ground level for taxi or
shuttle.
At the end, you are on the ground level.
You can see people lining up for taxi at the taxi station.
While at the airport waiting line, a uniformed security guard will send
you to the cab that belongs to you when it's your turn. In Beijing, most
official taxi cabs use green or yellow Hyundai Elantras, which are
equipped with air-conditioning. However, in the Summer, many drivers do
not turn on the A/C in order to save on fuel. They tend to lower the
windows to let the wind cool you down "naturally," and thus make the car
very dusty inside.
Most taxi drivers do not speak
nor read English. Please show the taxi driver your hotel
address in Chinese. Please watch the meter by the car
window and the Driver's Service Registration Card. To
get to a hotel in the city, it will be typically cost
about RMB120 (including the Airport Expressway toll of
RMB10), which is about USD $18. If the traffic is light,
it will take about 40-50 minutes to get to your downtown
hotel. You should get a receipt (in Chinese, it is said
FA-PIAO) from the fare register/meter and a toll
receipt. Please ask for the receipt before getting off.
If necessary, remember the plate number.
Taxis in Beijing and throughout China are very cheap
compared to USA and Europe. Please reject any offers
from non-official vehicles and stick to the green or
yellow Hyundai Elantras.
