Start with a riverfront perspective

Meet your guide at the agreed Shanghai location and travel to the Bund. This is an outdoor city visit, with the main experience along the promenade. The length of the walk can be adjusted so you can focus on a compact area or continue farther along the riverfront.

Look in both directions

The interest is not only across the Huangpu. Take time to examine the scale and variety of buildings on the Bund itself, then turn toward the skyline on the opposite bank. A guide can help connect what you see with the development of Shanghai as a trading city.

Choose the time of day

Daylight makes architectural details easier to examine; a later visit gives a different atmosphere and photographic setting. The best choice depends on the season, weather and the rest of your plans. We do not assume that an evening riverfront visit includes a cruise, tower admission or access inside waterfront buildings.

Continue through Shanghai

The retained route returns to your hotel after the riverfront. If you want to combine it with the Old City, Yu Garden or another district, agree on those additions during planning so travel time and admissions are clear.

Planning your visit

Bring footwear suited to a promenade walk and let us know if you need a shorter route. A river cruise, if requested, is priced and confirmed separately.
