Day 1 · Gubeikou-Jinshanling
Travel from Beijing to begin the Gubeikou–Jinshanling hike. The route follows older fortifications before reaching larger towers and partly repaired walkways. Allow approximately 4.5 hours for the ten-kilometer program, with stops for the views and a local meal. Spend the night at the Jinshanling-area hostel listed in the plan.
Walking distance: 10 km / 6.2 miles. Walking time: 4.5 hours. Overnight: Hostel at Jinshanling. Meals: Lunch and dinner. Bottled drinking water is provided.
Day 2 · Jinshanling-West Simatai
Continue exploring Jinshanling toward the eastern area called West Simatai. The walk offers another perspective on the ridges covered yesterday, with changes in tower design and the condition of the ramparts. After descending, transfer to Huanghuacheng for dinner and the planned camp. The permitted setting and equipment are agreed before departure.
Walking distance: 8 km / 5 miles. Walking time: 3.5 hours. Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overnight: Camp at Huanghuacheng Great Wall. Bottled drinking water is provided.
Day 3 · Lakeside Huanghuacheng-Xishuiyu
After breakfast, walk the Huanghuacheng–Xishuiyu route above the water. The reservoir interrupts the old defensive line, leaving sections of masonry to disappear toward the shoreline. Take time to appreciate this different landscape after two days around Jinshanling. Finish with lunch and the return to Beijing, with any extra lodging clearly identified in your quote.
