Detailed itinerary
Day 1 · Jinshanling to West Simatai
Begin on the Jinshanling–West Simatai corridor using the entrance, direction and collection point provided for your departure. Repaired sections and weathered towers share the ridge, offering a varied first day. Keep enough time for the agreed exit rather than extending the walk without notice. The first planned overnight is an arranged camp, subject to permission.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight: Planned Great Wall camp, subject to permission.
Day 2 · Gubeikou to Jinshanling
Follow the planned Gubeikou–Jinshanling route, where older towers guard the mountain corridor leading toward Beijing. This is a day to focus on the trail and the agreed connections between sections. Any entry restrictions or diversions must be incorporated before setting out. The second night’s lodging is specified in the confirmed support arrangements.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Day 3 · Jiankou Hike
Explore the Jiankou area only on the route approved for your ability and current conditions. Uneven masonry, steep approaches and exposed places require experience and conservative decisions. The self-guided label does not remove the need for local access checks or additional support where required. Stay at the village inn listed for the evening.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight: Laohe's Inn.
Day 4 · Jiankou to Mutianyu
Finish toward Mutianyu, where repaired ramparts provide a marked contrast with Jiankou’s older structures. Follow the confirmed route and descent instructions, keeping the collection time in mind. Cable-car or toboggan options, if wanted, need to match operating hours and ticket arrangements. Meet the vehicle for the return journey after the final walk.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch.
Planning your visit
Before booking, agree on route notes, navigation, contact support, transport, meals and campsite setup. Self-guided access to Jiankou is not assumed; local rules may require a modified route or additional guiding.
