Detailed itinerary
Day 1 · Beijing-Gubeikou-Jinshanling
Your hotel pickup is followed by the drive to Gubeikou and a substantial first hike toward Jinshanling. The old towers and winding ridges introduce the less-restored Wall before the route reaches larger fortifications. After approximately ten kilometers, enjoy a local dinner and the planned watchtower camping night, subject to current permission.
Your first day on 3A covers about 10 km (6.2 miles), allowing approximately 4.5 hours on foot. Overnight: Planned watchtower camp, subject to permission. Meals: Lunch and dinner. Bottled drinking water is provided.
Day 2 · Simatai West
Wake for the morning light and continue along the Jinshanling ridge toward West Simatai. The shorter walking day allows more attention to the defensive barriers, tower openings and changing masonry. Afterwards, transfer to the farm-style inn near the next day’s hiking area. Dietary requirements should be shared before the meals are arranged.
Walking distance: 6 km / 3.7 miles. Walking time: 3 hours. Overnight: Great Wall Farmotel. Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bottled drinking water is provided.
Day 3 · Jiankou-Mutianyu
End with the active crossing from Jiankou toward Mutianyu. Rougher mountain structures and repaired ramparts appear within the same walk, creating a clear comparison with the earlier eastern sections. Descend to meet the vehicle by the method confirmed for your group, then have lunch and return to your Beijing hotel.
Walking distance: 9 km / 5.6 miles. Walking time: 3.5 hours. Meals: Breakfast and lunch. Bottled drinking water is provided.
Planning your visit
Compared with the Mutianyu-only 3AM finale, this version includes Jiankou’s demanding approach. Your group needs confidence on uneven terrain; descent tickets and the exact trail are confirmed separately.
